FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Rams fans have many exciting reasons to circle Saturday, April 23, on their calendars. The Colorado State football team will play its annual Green and Gold Spring Game at 1 p.m. at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium, serving as the main event to follow a full morning of pregame activities designed to entertain and excite the entire family. The game and all pregame activities are free and open to the public.

Numerous interactive kids activities, great food and other events are planned for the day that concludes CSU’s 15-practice spring ball period, its second under head coach Mike Bobo. The Rams are coming off their third consecutive season with a bowl game appearance, the longest such streak for the program since playing in five in a row from 1999-2003.

The day’s events begin at 9:30 a.m. inside the stadium when members of Rams football teams from the past will return to Hughes Stadium to take part in an alumni flag football game.

Gameday Events on April 23 Include:

  • Alumni Flag Football Game--Set to begin at 9:30 a.m., former Rams football players take part in a special reunion flag football game on Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. The game concludes at 10:45.
  • Ram Town Kids’ Zone—Opens at 10 a.m. and features a variety of inflatables for kids to enjoy in the Ram Town tailgate area adjacent to the southeast corner of Hughes Stadium.
  • Youth Football Clinic—Organized in partnership with City of Fort Collins Recreation, registration begins at 10 a.m. in the Ram Town Kids’ Zone. The clinic is open to children in Kindergarten through 8th grade and takes place on the field from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
  • CSU Football Select-A-Seat Event—Fans seeking to become season-ticketholders may walk the stadium with CSU’s ticket sales team beginning at 10 a.m. and select the seats they would like from available inventory. Sit in the seats you’ll purchase to experience your game-day view in person! Event runs until the end of the Green & Gold Spring Game.
  • Chick-fil-A Sandwich Giveaway—Beginning at 11 a.m., 1,000 free Chick-fil-A sandwiches will be given away to fans on the west concourse of Hughes Stadium.
  • Season-Ticketholder Experience—The CSU Athletics Sales Team will host a limited number of 2016 season ticketholders on the sidelines, beginning at 12:15 p.m. Those participating will receive a wristband to gain access to the sidelines and will experience the pregame and in-game atmosphere from that vantage point. Season-ticketholders can expect to receive an email invitation regarding this exclusive opportunity.
  • Ram Club Appreciation—Current donors who contribute at least $250 to CSU Athletics are invited to the Rams Horn premium seating area beginning at 11:30 a.m. to enjoy food and beverages, courtesy of Ovations Food Services, Coca-Cola, Coors and High Country Beverage.

The Rams in 2016 return 13 starters, including three 2015 second-team All-Mountain choices—Ray Guy Award finalist punter Hayden Hunt, quarterback Nick Stevens and guard Fred Zerblis—and CSU’s 2015 leading tackler, honorable mention linebacker Kevin Davis.

In addition to 45 returning letterwinners, the 2016 signing class includes four student-athletes—quarterbacks Faton Bauta and Collin Hill and defensive backs Houston Haynes and A’Keitheon Whitner—who enrolled in January, have participated in the offseason program and spring drills.

Eight more spring practices remain for the Rams before the Green and Gold Spring Game.
