The Colorado State Rams completed their 12th practice of fall camp on Sunday afternoon, their lone practice of the day following yesterday’s two-a-day. The team practiced in shells today, but will be back in full pads Monday morning for practice No. 13.
“It didn’t start out the way I wanted, just going by body language,” head coach Mike Bobo said following practice. “That’s when the coaches have got to get them going though, and I thought the defense really responded.”
Bobo continues to push the need for competition amongst the newcomers as well as vets, and believes that the young players have done a good job embracing the competitive nature of Rams football.
“We’re trying to find out who our teammates are, and what makes them tick,” Bobo said. “I know whenever that ball goes down I’m ready to compete, and I expect that out of my team. We’re gonna have guys out there that love to compete and love to play ball or else they’re not going to play for us.”
Despite the competiveness on the field, the team is an extremely close-knit group off the field, and the coaching staff is thrilled with the family atmosphere that’s been created these past few weeks.
“Friday night, coaches had the players at their house. The goal is to get them away from camp, because it’s a grind - get them out of the dorm, come to the house, and enjoy good food and fellowship. Today was about going to church together and having a meal together. We’re a family and we’re going to do things together.”
Enjoyed spending time with #RamFam16 tonight. This is a special group of young men & I'm proud they're Rams. pic.twitter.com/ZOB3oaY3oJ

Non-first-year student-athletes moved out of the dorms Sunday morning, while freshmen transitioned into their dorms for the year. With the fall semester starting Aug. 22, Monday begins the last full week of fall camp and final push before game prep for the Rocky Mountain Showdown begins.
#NextLevelRams: Week 1 of the NFL preseason continued Saturday with DeAndre Elliott making his NFL debut with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks beat the Kansas City Chiefs 17-16 with Elliott recording two tackles.
