Four Rams have had at least two seasons with 1,000-plus receiving yards
Colorado State senior wide receiver Michael Gallup leads the nation with 1,167 receiving yards through nine games. He became the first player in the country to eclipse 1,000 yards, doing so during CSU's win at New Mexico on Oct. 20.
Following his 1,272-yard campaign last year, Gallup joined a select list of Rams to have multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons in their careers.
Denver native Greg Primus was CSU's first player to achieve multiple seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards. He remains the program's only player with three such seasons.
Â
Primus set CSU's single-season receiving record with 1,008 yards as a sophomore in 1990, then topped that with 1,081 the following season. He posted 1,007 yards as a senior, giving him three of the top four receiving totals in the CSU record book upon graduation in 1992.
Â
His 10-catch, 256-yard performance against Hawai'i in 1991 was the CSU single-game receiving record until current Ram Olabisi Johnson broke it with 265 yards in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl last season.
After a modest 180-yard season as a freshman in 2002, David Anderson broke out in a big way as a sophomore. The native of Westlake Village, Calif., set a new single-season record for receiving yards with 1,293, and tallied nine touchdowns (which ranked second in program history at the time).
The 5-foot-10 Anderson narrowly missed the 1,000-yard plateau as a junior in 2004, finishing with 940 yards. His production jumped back up as a senior, however, as he posted 1,221 yards and eight more TDs.
A few of Anderson's most impressive performances came during his 2004 season. He had a career-best 232 yards on 12 catches against BYU, and recorded 137 yards on nine catches against No. 1 USC (the most the Trojans conceded to a single receiver all year).
Notes:Â
Rashard Higgins was lightly recruited coming out of high school in Mesquite, Texas. He quickly showcased his talents upon arriving in Fort Collins. Higgins led the Rams with 837 receiving yards as a freshman in 2013, in what was a small preview of what was to come.
Higgins exploded as a sophomore, shattering CSU season records in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and 100-yard games with senior Garrett Grayson at quarterback. Higgins finished with 1,750 yards on 96 catches with 17 TDs. He started the 2014 campaign with just 12 yards against Colorado, but then posted at least 100 yards in 10 of the next 11 contests. His only game without 100 yards - 98 yards at Boston College. Higgins was a Biletnikoff Award finalist and a first-team All-American for his 2014 efforts.Â
Naturally, there was a lot of hype for Higgins heading into his junior campaign in 2015. "Hollywood" put up 75 more catches and 1,062 yards to become CSU's career receiving yards leader with 3,649 (passing Anderson's total by 15 yards).
Notes:
Michael Gallup came to CSU in 2016 from Butler County Community College. The Monroe, Ga., native has assured that he will not be forgotten in the lore of CSU football.
Gallup posted 1,272 yards in his first year in Fort Collins, earning first-team All-Mountain West recognition. His 14 TD receptions as a junior rank second all-time (behind Higgins). Gallup finished the season on a tear, going for no fewer than 91 receiving yards over the final eight games of the year. He also had at least one touchdown in all eight of those games.
The 6-foot-1 wide out currently leads the FBS with 1,167 receiving yards in just nine games this season. He's gone over 200 yards twice, including a 263-yard performance against Nevada on Oct. 14 (the second-best single-game total in school history).Â
Gallup is averaging 110.9 yards per game over his two seasons at the FBS level, which ranks No. 1 among all active players.Â

- Primus spent three seasons on NFL rosters with the Denver Broncos (1993) and the Chicago Bears (1994-95).
DAVID ANDERSON – 2003, 2005
The 5-foot-10 Anderson narrowly missed the 1,000-yard plateau as a junior in 2004, finishing with 940 yards. His production jumped back up as a senior, however, as he posted 1,221 yards and eight more TDs.

Notes:
- Higgins declared for the NFL Draft following his junior season. He was drafted in the fifth round (172nd overall) by the Cleveland Browns.
- Higgins registered 1,750 yards in 12 games in 2014, averaging 145.8 yards per contest. He did not play in CSU's home game against Hawai'i that year.
- He holds most of CSU's single-season and career receiving records, including receptions, yards and touchdowns.
MICHAEL GALLUP - 2016, 2017
Gallup posted 1,272 yards in his first year in Fort Collins, earning first-team All-Mountain West recognition. His 14 TD receptions as a junior rank second all-time (behind Higgins). Gallup finished the season on a tear, going for no fewer than 91 receiving yards over the final eight games of the year. He also had at least one touchdown in all eight of those games.
