Rams compete at national championships for the fourth time in the past five seasons under Art Siemers

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The eighth-ranked Colorado State men's cross country team is heading back to the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the fourth time in the past five years, as the Rams were among the 31-team field announced by the NCAA on Saturday afternoon.

This year's NCAA Cross Country Championships are set to be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 from E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The venue is particularly notable for senior Jerrell Mock, who, along with former CSU great Jefferson Abbey, earned All-America honors by finishing 19th and 13th, respectively, at that course in 2015.

Prior to the now four appearances under sixth-year head coach Art Siemers, Colorado State men's cross country had not qualified for the national championships since 2004. This is the second straight year that the CSU men have competed at nationals, following the team's best national finish (17th) since 2003 last season.

CSU's men are one of seven teams to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships out of the loaded Mountain Region. The Rams placed fourth at Friday's regional meet, behind only top-ranked Northern Arizona, No. 2 BYU and No. 5 Colorado, and ahead of No. 12 Southern Utah, No. 16 Air Force and No. 23 Utah State. All six of those teams, along with CSU, qualified for the national meet.

Mock is set to make his fourth appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, while Grant Fischer is set to make his third. Each of Eric Hamer, Carson Hume and Cole Rockhold are set to make their second appearances at the meet.

The 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships will begin with the women's 6k race, which is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. MT/10:45 a.m. ET. Colorado State men's cross country will run in the men's 10k shortly after, with a start time slated for 9:45 a.m. MT/11:45 a.m. ET. The entirety of the meet will be streamed live by FloTrack.com and will be available for the website's subscribers.
