Rams move indoors to avoid rain on Thursday
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State Rams conducted practice at the Indoor Practice Facility today, avoiding the afternoon rain storm that hit Fort Collins.
"It was a good practice, we got everything in," Head Coach Mike Bobo said. "We didn't have to break anything up like we've had to. It was great to get a practice on schedule, and we're looking forward to Saturday's scrimmage."
The closed scrimmage on Saturday is slated to begin at 6 p.m. MT. The start time is intended to mimic the kickoff time of the Rocky Mountain Showdown contest versus Colorado on Sept. 1. Similarly, the scrimmage on Aug. 5 began at 1 p.m. in order to imitate the start time of the opener against Oregon State on Aug. 26 (12:30 p.m. kickoff time).
Saturday's scrimmage is the second of two scheduled for training camp.
"You used to have three scrimmages in fall camp, but everybody has kind of gotten away from three and more guys are doing just two scrimmages," Bobo said.
The team has the day off from practice on Friday, which gives the squad another opportunity to mimic a game-week routine.
"It'll be a little bit of a walk-through," Bobo said of tomorrow's planned activities. "We're just going to try to work it like one of our Thursdays where we go inside and it's a slower pace and we walk through our gameplan. Both sides of the ball will have meetings at night like they would the night before a game."
Bobo also referenced Wyatt Bryan's successful practice-ending field goal from Wednesday's practice, which earned the redshirt junior kicker a full scholarship.
"We have 20-plus guys on this team that walked on," Bobo said. "They love football, they love Colorado State, they love being a part of this football team. Anytime you get to reward one of those guys for something they deserve, it's always a special moment for them and their teammates."

Opening game promotions include Military Appreciation Day, Stripe The Stadium
