2017 CSU Football Fall Camp Notebook: Day 17

Rams' focus shifting to game prep with fall camp winding down
The Rams held their 17th practice of fall camp on Friday afternoon inside the stadium. With only eight days until season kickoff, the Rams are beginning to shift their focus to game preparations, and the magnitude of what is ahead comes closer into view. While the Rams are excited to play in the first game of the college football season, there are added challenges that come with opening the season a week or two earlier than the norm.
Â
"Everybody is kind of ready to get out of camp mode and back to school, but it's different for us," said head coach Mike Bobo. "Usually school starts and you've got two weeks [before the first game]. School starts for us—and you have to add that responsibility to your load—but this is also when we need to get a head start on our game preparation."
Â
That process also includes designating players for the scout team to mimic the opponents' offensive and defensive looks, and maintaining the intensity to compete.
Â
"The competitiveness is not the same when you go to scout team, and that's where we need to be mature and professional about things," Bobo said. "You still have to go out and get your work done. Just because you're on the scout team, you can't be feeling sorry for yourself. If you are, you're going to be on the scout team for the rest of your life."
Â
Bobo and his staff will spend this week finalizing a depth chart for the opener, but positional rotations will be a constant work-in-progress over the course of the entire season.
Â
"I feel like we've had a good camp, but there are still some question marks that we have to fill in these next eight days," Bobo said. "There will be some questions answered in the first game, and then we'll have to make decisions after that game moving forward. We have to continue to grow; we're not a finished product. There's not a team in this country that's a finished product."
Â
Held under the lights of the stadium, Saturday night's practice will mark the 18th and final of fall camp. Continue to check CSURams.com and follow @CSUFootball on Twitter for exclusive content and looks at 2017 training camp.
