Colorado State Sweeps Mountain West Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After going undefeated last weekend at its' home tournament, the Colorado State volleyball team swept the Mountain West Player of the Week honors announced by the conference office this morning. Senior Sanja Cizmic earned Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore Paulina Hougaard-Jensen was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Sanja Cizmic helped extend Colorado State's winning streak to eight after posting a 3-0 weekend at the CSU Tournament. The Rams defeated Ball State (3-1) and No. 16 Michigan (3-0) on Friday, before sweeping Idaho State (3-0) on Sunday. The Croatia native finished the weekend with a .415 attack percentage and 35 kills. She highlighted the weekend hitting at a .550 clip with 13 kills in the sweep over No. 16 Michigan and also added 10 kills on a .421 mark in a win against Idaho State. The senior was also named the tournament MVP.
Paulina Hougaard-Jensen helped the Rams go 3-0 at the tournament his past weekend, as she recorded a team-high 16 blocks over the three matches. She started the week with five blocks in a 3-1 victory over Ball State and ended it with seven blocks in a sweep over Idaho State. The Denmark native was also effective on the offensive front, posting 30 kills on a .500 hitting percentage over the weekend.
This is the second and third time Colorado State has garnished Player of the Week honors this season.
