Hillyer named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State's middle blocker, Kirstie Hillyer earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week honors announced by the conference office this morning. It is the second career Conference weekly award for Hillyer.
 
The redshirt sophomore helped the Rams post a 4-0 record last week, which included a five-set win over TCU and a sweep of No. 15 Florida State at the Home2Suites Invite in Tallahassee, Florida. She finished the week with 20 blocks for an average of 1.54 blocks per set, while adding 35 kills on a .582 attack percentage.
 
The Bayfield, Colo., native opened the week with a three-block performance in a sweep of Northern Colorado last Tuesday. She then recorded her second double-double of the season in a come-from-behind win over TCU, notching 10 blocks and 13 kills. Hillyer finished the tournament with six rejections in a sweep of UNC Asheville and one block in the upset of No. 15 Florida State.
 
Colorado State will host its own tournament this weekend starting Friday night in Moby Arena. Full release to come.
