CSU to face Wisconsin, Milwaukee on road trip
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Colorado State will head to Wisconsin for two matches this weekend against Wisconsin (Saturday, 11 a.m. MT) and Milwaukee (Sunday, 12 p.m. MT).
CSU (0-1) opened its season last weekend in Boulder, where the Rams dropped an incredibly tight 4-3 match to the Buffs.
"We're a good team and we have now been in the battles and what those pressures feel like in a tight match," CSU head coach Jarod Camerota said. "Hopefully we continue to get better in those situations because we will have a lot of matches that are that tight. The next level is to learn to enjoy those pressures, because that's the joy of college tennis."
Wisconsin will play its first dual match of the spring season tomorrow against Marquette. CSU visited Madison, Wis., last year, falling 7-0 to the Badgers.
"Wisconsin is going to be better than last year, but we are better than last year," Camerota said. "They'll go out there and compete and we will too, and we will see what happens."
Milwaukee opened its dual season with a 4-3 loss to DePaul on Sunday.
Three CSU players (Emily Kolbow, Emma Corwin, Emily Lutetschwager) and Camerota hail from the state of Wisconsin, and Priscilla Palermo is from Illinois. The Rams expect a lot of fan support all weekend.
"We expect to have a lot of fans and maybe we will even outnumber the home teams," Camerota said. "It's pretty cool to have fans on the road. We get really good crowds at home, so when we go on the road and don't play in front of a crowd it's a bit of a weird feeling for us. Home or away, when you have people cheering you on, it definitely helps."
