Rams Year-End Banquet Another Success
1/26/2018 10:50:00 AM | Volleyball
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State Rams volleyball team hosted its annual year-end banquet on Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Grand Ballroom at the Lory Student Center.
Â
The evening began with a social hour and dinner, followed by a live auction. Items for sale included signed and framed jerseys by the five seniors – Sanja Cizmic, Jasmine Hanna, McKenna Thornlow, Alexandra Poletto and Mariah Green – ,a five-course wine-pairing dinner at head coach Tom Hilbert's house (with service from the entire staff), and a custom made one-of-a-kind bobblehead of Head Coach Tom Hilbert.
Â
The 2017 season highlight video was then unveiled for the audience of donors, fans and families to witness. The video featured interviews and perspectives from Head Coach Tom Hilbert and the team's five seniors.
Â
Hilbert then took the mic and told the story of the five seniors using a "Hand" analogy. Hilbert summarized each senior and related them to a finger that makes a hand. He also told the room how each senior contributed and what they meant to the program for the last four years.
Â
Next, team awards were handed out by assistant coach Emily Kohan and Head Coach Tom Hilbert:
BOM Squad MVP (scout team MVP) – Olivia Nicholson
Debbie Murphy Most Inspirational Award (voted on by the players) – McKenna Thornlow
Coaches' Award – Paulina Hougaard-Jensen
Team MVP (voted on by the players) – Katie Oleksak
Â
Emcee Matt Wozniak closed the evening by recapping how the program isn't just about conference championships (21 total), 20-win seasons (23 years in a row) or NCAA Tournament appearances (23 consecutive), but it's more about the people - the players, coaches, fans, donors, support staff, and others.
