Spring Practice Report, Day 2: Bobo complimentary of team's effort

Q&A with junior defensive lineman Richard King
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State football team held its second practice of the spring on Wednesday, working on the practice fields west of the stadium for the first time in 2018.
Fourth-year head coach Mike Bobo complimented the effort of the players on the field today, but acknowledged that the team needs to progress further.
"There was good effort; I liked the guys hustling," Bobo said. "We're a thin football team right now, but like I told them after practice, I don't care that we're thin. We have to put ourselves in situations of being tired, put ourselves in the fourth quarter. I thought a couple guys did that today. On the flip side, we have a long way to go. We're not even close to being where we need to be, but that's okay. That's why we practice, that's why you coach."
Bobo also talked about new defensive coordinator John Jancek and his approach in leading the defensive coaching staff, as well as the players, both in meetings and on the field in the early-going of camp. Jancek does not have a specific position group that he coaches, but is able to take over sub-groups of certain positions as practice situations dictate.
"I joke to [Jancek] all the time about (just) walking around, but he takes the nickels and he's working with the nickels and he's taking the weak side defensive ends today, and he's working with them, you know he runs all the team periods," Bobo said. "I like the way it's set up on defense. I think they're all on the same page, doing a good job, and Jancek is leading that."
The Rams will be back on the field Friday afternoon for the third practice of the spring. For full coverage of CSU Football, follow @CSUFootball on Twitter.
Q: How was practice?
A: I think it went pretty good. It was our second day out there and I think it went a lot better than the first day. I know everyday brings different challenges so I know Bobo tells us just to take it one day at a time, so I think we do and I think we got better as a team today, as a whole overall.
Q: What does it feel like when you bring the quarterback to the ground for a sack?
A: When I bring the quarterback to the ground it is just a great feeling. The biggest joy comes from knowing that I am helping the team and I am pushing us towards victory. Other than that, my favorite thing is just to celebrate with my teammates and the energy that it give the team. So I keep making more plays.
Q: How is it working with a new defensive staff this spring?
A: I think it is a blessing to have the opportunity to work with new coaches because all coaches have different terminology and they all coach in different ways so I am just soaking it all in and learning as much as I can to become a better player.
Q: What have you learned from it? [Working with the new staff]:
A: Football is football at the end of the day it is all the same it is mostly just different terminology. There might be some different techniques but that is mainly what the biggest difference has been and just getting use to the new terminology and the new coaching style.
Q: Do you have a favorite sack from your collegiate or high school career? If so, describe the situation and play?
A: Honestly I don't have a favorite sack. When I am in the game I am just in the zone. I really don't know what I am doing until after, so I am just trying to do whatever I can to get the team to a victory.
Q: What is your favorite Netflix Series?
A: See that's a hard question for me because I am not someone that can stay stuck to one show. One show I have been watching lately is Z Nation when I am bored or just getting ready to go to sleep. I mean they are just killing zombies and some stuff. It's a good zombie show.
Q: Would you refer the show to a friend?
A: I mean it depend on what you are in the mood for... it's cool.
Q: Who is your favorite rapper:
A: J Cole is definitely one of my favorite rappers.
Q: What is your favorite J Cole Song:
A: Fire Squad is definitely one of my all-time favorites.
Q: What's your favorite color?
A: See I am boring like that, my favorite color is gray. It's just a laid back color. A lot of my shoes have gray on them and I just like it.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Well of course to be in the NFL, if not I just want to do something that gives back to the community. I would really like to work with young children like as a mentor or something along those lines.
