Q&A with senior wide receiver Olabisi Johnson
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Colorado State football team went indoors for its fifth practice of the spring on Wednesday.
Head coach Mike Bobo commented that although moving practice indoors changed how the coaches have to conduct drills, it did not alter the team's approach.
"We would have loved to go outside but... guys can slip and hurt a groin and we were able to get a good practice in... a full padded practice, so we got good work," Bobo said. "It wasn't the best practice of the spring but I can guarantee you, when I watch the film tonight there is going to be a lot of little things we have gotten better at and today we will highlight those things but tomorrow more in the meetings but more point out the things we have got to continue to get better. There's a lot of guys who haven't played a lot of ball who are getting a lot of reps and there are mistakes being made but we will keep pushing and coaching and guys will keep responding to coaching and we can get a little bit better each day and that's what we're trying to do this spring and that's what we're trying to do this spring. Just get a little bit better each day."
Bobo also talked about how the spring is a great learning opportunity for the team, and that the coaches and players need to be on the same page.
"Our defensive staff and really all our coaches, they are coaching every play," Bobo said when asked about how the new defensive staff is assimilating with the team in spring drills. "They are coaching constantly and it's a lot of stuff you have to coach off the field but it's constant coaching in every drill. There is not one detail that is too small to coach and that's what I want to see out of the coaches. We have to be a football team that takes coaching. You know we are not the team that we want to be, and nobody is in the country right now and you have to take coaching every day and those coaches are continuing to coach day in and day out and that is what I would like to see right now."

Always special when family comes back. Especially when we've upgraded the place a bit.
Q: You have had some of your best performances in your career in the last two bowl games… what is it about those stages that has helped you elevate your game?
A: You know, I wish I knew! I'm competing every game out there, I've just been lucky enough to have really good performances in bowl games, and unfortunately we haven't come out with a win, but it's a good look for the future and the next games.
Q: What are your thoughts on being a senior leader of this team heading into 2018?
A: I'm glad to be a leader on the team, I'm glad guys can look up to me. I'm ready for the role I think.
Q: Do you have any advice for new recruits or newer members of the team?
A: You just have to come in confident. I might have missed that, honestly, when I came in as a freshman. Coaches love to see confidence, love to see a guy who can go out there and compete.Â
 Q: Favorite Coach Bobo memory?
Talking about freshman year, coming in, first day, I had a stellar first practice…so after the first practice, in the press conference, he called me the 'freshman phenom' and everything. So first year, I was the 'freshman phenom,' so that was a cool experience for me.Â
Q: Coach always praises your work ethic… how do you remain so motivated going into every practice and workout?
I think it's just a mindset—what I've been born and raised on, honestly. If I'm not going 100 percent in my reps, I feel bad, so it makes me feel good about myself, makes me know that I gave my all.
Q: How long have you been playing?
A: [I've been playing] since I was seven. I just turned 21 the other day, so that's 14 years!Â
Q: How does this spring feel different than your first spring experience at CSU?
A: It's 2018. It's a completely new season; I'm really excited for it. Being a senior and everything, I think it went so fast. The past three seasons have been crazy fast, so I'm excited to be in a leadership role with some of my boys and I'm excited to see what this team has in store.
