FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State volleyball head coach Tom Hilbert announced the addition of Sasha Colombo to a National Letter of Intent to continue her career at CSU in the 2018 season.
Colombo will join Jacqueline Van Liefde and Ciera Zimmerman who signed National Letters of Intent during the 2017 signing period in November.
Sasha Colombo | Milan, Italy | Liceo Scientifico Giordano Bruno | MB
Sasha will join the Rams after playing for a number years in Milan. She took her first-big step in volleyball in 2013 when she was selected for the U14 Milan Provincial Team where she was the starting middle blocker and helped her team to a regional gold medal. She followed that being selected for the U15 Lombardy Regional team in 2014 and again played middle guiding her squad to a national silver medal. In 2015, Sasha was selected to participate at the EYOF (European Youth Olympic Festival) in Georgia, winning a bronze medal. More recently, she helped her team win the Provincial Finals in 2017 before advancing to the national finals with her U18 team. Currently she is playing with Pallavolo Don Colleoni in series B1 playing opposite and is fifth in the league in points.
Chose Colorado State because… "I chose CSU because of the highly competitive volleyball team with an excellent coach who achieves consistently good results. It has great training facilities, interesting course opportunities and an attractive green campus. I felt friendly vibes and I think it is a nice-sized campus within a beautiful environment."
Head Coach Hilbert on Sasha… "Sasha brings a lot competence and maturity to both the middle and right-side position – both positions that we need to add depth to. She has played at a very high level in Italy, playing at the B1 level and I like the league she plays in. She also a great student and a really interesting person and I like that cultural diversity in our team.
