Rams serve the community with six different outreach programs this spring
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's soccer program devoted its time both on and off the pitch this spring, as the Rams turned their attention to serving the community through various outreach programs this March and April.
Since the program's inception in 2013, Colorado State women's soccer has held itself to seven core values, with one being "Serve Others" in the community. The Rams got involved in the community through six different events, with five of those being held within the team's spring schedule.
The spring slate of service activities began on March 26, when the Rams' coaches and players spent time at the Boys and Girls Club of Larimer County. That day, the team held its CSU Skills & Drills Event, where the Rams and participants enjoyed time playing soccer and running soccer drills.
One week later, CSU women's soccer was well represented as part of various university and athletics initiatives. The Rams spent time with the local community during CSU Athletics' Ram Jam event, then one day later, committed time to participating in CSU's Rams Fight Hunger mobile food pantry event.
In the coming weeks, the Rams got involved with a couple of the local club soccer programs, Arsenal FC and Loveland United. The team held clinics for each of those groups, helping facilitate and lead soccer activities for the youths of those respective clubs.
With Colorado State's spring soccer schedule at its conclusion the weekend of those soccer clinics, the Rams planned one more event the next weekend. On April 21, the team wrapped up its slate of spring outreach events with a Special Olympics event inside Colorado State's Indoor Practice Facility. Each of the participants spent time with players and coaches, playing soccer and executing soccer drills.
Looking ahead to the 2018 season, the Colorado State women's soccer team is set to return 20 letterwinners and add seven newcomers to its roster. Information on the players and CSU's most up-to-date roster can be found here.
