Rams take the field for the first time this fall

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Colorado State Rams held their first full practice of fall camp on Friday afternoon on the practice fields just west of Canvas Stadium.

Fourth-year head coach Mike Bobo was expecting his squad would bring a lot of energy to the first practice, but he also was impressed by the team's execution.

"It was a spirited practice, which most first practices are," Bobo explained. "But I liked the attention to detail, the effort and communication. I thought I saw guys flying around on the defense, giving extraordinary effort. I saw some tight coverage, which was good to see. I saw us make some plays offensively; made some plays a couple times on the deep ball. Missed some throws here and there and dropped a couple passes but overall I thought it was a good practice for the first day."

Today marked the first fall practice for several new coaches on Bobo's staff. He has liked what he's seen from the group to this point, and is excited about working with them through camp.

"As far as the new staff, change is difficult because you get out of your comfort zone, but I really think it's brought some energy in our meeting rooms," Bobo said. "There's more dialogue.... you're kind of rejuvenated in there."

Bobo also referenced the newcomers and the impact he thinks the #B18Horns class can make right away.

"This class, (plus junior college transfers) Damion Dickens, (Jan-Phillip) Bombek, grad transfers and freshmen...we feel like a large percentage of these guys are going to play and play significant minutes," Bobo said.

Bobo also announced today that wide receiver Preston Williams is no longer suspended and is eligible to fully participate in all team activities and practices.

The Rams will be back at practice tomorrow afternoon.
