Rams hold Green and White Scrimmage in first appearance at CSU Soccer Field at 12 p.m. MT on Aug. 5

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's soccer team begins preparation for its 2018 campaign with its first full practice of the preseason from the CSU Soccer Field on Tuesday.

Colorado State begins its sixth season since it was established in 2013, as well as its second at its permanent home facility, the CSU Soccer Field. The Rams' facility, which was designed with consideration to both training and official matches, is located on Elizabeth Street adjacent to Moby Arena and CSU softball's Ram Field. The Rams will make their first appearance at their home field in the Green & White Scrimmage at Noon MT on Aug. 5. Postgame activities for fans include a meet-and-greet and autograph opportunities.

Following its home scrimmage, CSU travels to Kansas for a Noon MT/1 p.m. CT exhibition on Sunday, Aug. 12. The Rams will then travel for annual Colorado Cup matches at Denver (7 p.m. MT on Thursday, Aug. 16) and at Colorado (3:30 p.m. MT on Sunday, Aug. 19) before finishing off play in the round-robin tournament with its home opener against Northern Colorado (4 p.m. MT on Thursday, Aug. 23).

Competition in the Colorado Cup features matches between each of the in-state Division I collegiate soccer programs. Each of the six teams play three games, and a champion is determined based off record in competition, where a victory equals three points and a draw is worth one.

The Colorado State women's soccer team returns 20 players from its 2017 roster, including its top eight points scorers and the program's first All-Mountain West selection, goalkeeper Hunter Peifer. Among those field players are captains Halley Havlicek (seven points, team-highs with three goals and 1,780 minutes in 2017) and Kaija Ornes (led CSU with four goals and eight points in 2016), as well as senior Makenzi Taylor (team-high eight points in 2017) and sophomore Ally Murphy-Pauletto (scored program's only hat trick, NCAA Soccer Women's Player of the Week on Sept. 4, 2017).

Joining that group are six freshmen, including three midfielders and one at each of defender, forward and goalkeeper. Also joining this year's roster is Kansas State transfer and redshirt sophomore Baylee Bedard (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain HS).
