Carta-Samuels named to 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list

Award given annually to nation’s top college quarterback
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Colorado State senior quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels has been named to the 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. announced today.
Named after one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, the award is given annually to the nation's top college quarterback.
Carta-Samuels, who is entering his first season as a Ram after earning his bachelor's degree and transferring from Washington, has been leading the team's top offensive unit throughout fall camp.
The Saratoga, Calif., native played in 25 games over four years as a Husky. He had 47 career pass attempts, completing 27 of them for 310 yards and three touchdowns. He played in eight games in 2017, completing 8-of-10 passes for 82 yards, and appeared in nine games in 2016, completing 9-of-13 passes for 104 yards and three scores.
Carta-Samuels was invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl following his senior year at Bellarmine Prep (San Jose, Calif.), where he was a first-team All-West Catholic Athletic League selection. Carta-Samuels was ranked as the No. 10 pro-style quarterback in the nation coming out of high school by Rivals.com, and was the No. 14-rated pocket passer by ESPN.com.
Candidates for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class. Criteria to be considered for the award include character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic accomplishments.
