Plentl’s goal led the Rams past SMU, which was receiving the third-most votes outside of the United Soccer Coaches’ top 25

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After scoring the go-ahead goal to knock off SMU on Sunday, senior midfielder Beth Plentl has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. The conference announced its weekly accolades on Monday.

Plentl is the second in the now-six-season history of Colorado State women's soccer to be named MW Offensive Player of the Week, joining current sophomore forward Ally Murphy-Pauletto (Sept. 4, 2017). The senior is the third Ram overall to earn a weekly accolade, and second this season, along with current redshirt junior goalkeeper Hunter Peifer (MW Defensive Player of the Week for Aug. 20, 2018).

In addition, Colorado State is one of only three teams in the Mountain West to have a weekly accolade on each of the offensive and defensive sides to this point this season. The other schools are UNLV and Nevada.

Plentl's goal came in the 73rd minute of the Rams' match with the Mustangs and held up as the only goal scored during regulation. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native fired to the right side to beat the keeper and notch her first goal of the season.

The senior's tally led the Rams past an SMU squad that entered the week with the third-most votes of any team outside of the United Soccer Coaches' top 25. Additionally, the Rams' win clinched their best nonconference record (3-3-2) in a single season in the program's now-six-year history.

The Colorado State women's soccer team opens Mountain West play this Friday at New Mexico. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. MT from the UNM Soccer Complex.
