Events on New Belgium Porch and in Old Town Square preceded Saturday kickoff vs. Arkansas & fan festivities

Colorado State plays host to an opponent from the Southeastern Conference for just the second time Saturday when the Arkansas Razorbacks visit Canvas Stadium on the CSU campus. The game is slated to kick off at 5:30 p.m. MT on Saturday, but the fanfare and festivities begin more than 24 hours before with a host of events planned on campus and in the Fort Collins community.

In addition, a number of improvements and enhancements to the game day experience will help fans enjoy a successful visit to Canvas Stadium and be in their seats before the ball is kicked off. Fan are encouraged to make their way toward the stadium well before kickoff and to familiarize themselves with process and procedures for everything from parking to stadium entry procedures by visiting the Rams' Football Gameday page and reading the information below.

Saturday is Military Appreciation Day and fans also will Stripe the Stadium by wearing either green or white as assigned to their seating section. Fans are reminded there is a clear bag policy at Canvas Stadium and a list of prohibited items, which includes strollers, bike helmets and all water bottles except crushable plastic types, empty, without a cap. The full list can be found at the link above, and express lanes will now be available for fans not bringing a bag into the stadium.

Tickets are still available for Saturday's contest and can be purchased by calling the Rams Sales Team at 1-800-491-RAMS or by visiting CSURams.com/tickets. A limited amount of single-game parking is available for purchase in the Ram Lot, south of the Moby Arena lot, in advance only, by calling the sales team. No day-of-game single-game parking may be purchased on campus, and all campus lots close at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, to prepare for football pass parking only on game days.

Game weekend begins Friday at Canvas Stadium with the Football Friday Happy Hour on the New Belgium Porch, including music courtesy of CSU's Stadium Sessions, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Fort Collins-based folk-rock trio Whippoorwill is slated to perform Friday.

A Ram Rally in Fort Collins' Old Town Square begins at 7 p.m. on Friday. After a pre-Rally performance by the band The Seers at 5 p.m., the CSU Pep Band will perform on the main stage at 7 p.m. followed by an address from CSU Director of Athletics Joe Parker. Local rock band Post Paradise will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. as the headlining act of the night.

Rams fans can also be looking for several giveaway opportunities during the rally, including CSU tickets and merchandise and Under Armour gift cards.

Saturday is game day, and like always, fans can find all the info they need at CSURams.com/footballgameday.

Game promotions for Saturday include:
  • Military Appreciation Day: Military Appreciation Day is a special day to honor our nation's active military and veterans both before and during the football game. Displays and events highlight the pregame period, while the in-game tributes include special recognitions and introductions both on the field and on the HD RamVision videoboard.
    • One sticker from one of the five military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard) will be represented on the helmets of each Rams player.

  • Stripe The Stadium: To Stripe the Stadium, fans are encouraged wear either green or white, as assigned for their specific seating section, to create alternating colors of vertical stripes around the stadium seating bowl. A Stripe The Stadium map is available here. Gameday-specific green and white shirts are available at the Old Town Ram Zone retail outlet (172 N. College Ave.) and the Ram Zone locations at Canvas Stadium. Hours of operation and directions to the Ram Zone location at Canvas Stadium is available here.

On Saturday, the ticket office at Canvas Stadium will open at 12:30 p.m. One hour later (and four hours before kickoff) campus will begin to come alive as the parking lots will open along with the Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate and the CSU Alumni Center (located in the northeast corner of Canvas Stadium). Two more bands will be performing at the Stadium Session Gameday Tailgate -- Manabi Salsa Band and Jaanvi Gurung.

Ram Walk is slated for 2:55 p.m., where fans may line Meridian Ave. to welcome the Rams football team on the march into the stadium, accompanied by the CSU Marching Band performing and four-legged CAM the Ram.

All gates at Canvas Stadium will open at 3:30 p.m. and there will be special happy hour pricing presented by The Group Inc. Real Estate and Spectra at all concession stands, featuring $5 Coors Light and Old Aggie beers, from 3:30-4:30. Happy hour pricing also extends for that hour to premium patrons in VIP areas additionally enjoying $5 Coyote Gold margaritas and Can-Ram Cocktails, and New Belgium Porch patrons being offered $5 Old Aggie.

At 4:45 p.m., the ROTC cannon "Comatose" will fire 15 minutes earlier than the traditional half-hour point before kickoff to help signal to fans to begin to make their way to the stadium to continue to enjoy pregame festivities from within Canvas Stadium. Fans are encouraged to plan the time they would like to be in their seats, and working back from that to plan their stadium entry time, allowing for longer lines closer to, and at, kickoff time.

The new "express lane" option available to fans will allow those entering the stadium without bags and only small personal items to find more streamlined and quicker entry. Fans are reminded there are lockers available on Pitkin Street just east of the Alumni Center to secure prohibited items without having to return them to their vehicles, or for those who used transit or bikes to come to campus. There also will be additional gate and concessions staff beginning with Saturday's game.

Information about CSU's clear bag policy is available here. Student re-park will run from 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Sept. 7. Four wristband stations are located at the Lory Student Center parking lot, Meridian & Hughes Way, at the student tailgate in the TILT Lot and across from the entrance to the Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate.

More information about how CSU is aiming to improve the gameday experience for fans is available in Joe Parker's latest A.D. Statement.
