Rams to play at Michigan in 2022

Game will be played in Ann Arbor, and be second meeting all-time between Rams and Wolverines
FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State and Michigan jointly announced today a future football game scheduled to be played between the two schools on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The game will be the second all-time between the Rams and the Big Ten's Wolverines, and brings Colorado State's total number of games to be played against members of "Power 5" conferences over the next 10 seasons to 18. The total includes nine against Pac-12 foes, five against the SEC, two against the Big 12 and two against the Big Ten. Seven of those will be played in Fort Collins at Canvas Stadium.
"To get to where we want to go as a program we have to continue to test ourselves against the best programs in the country," said head coach Mike Bobo. "I have a great deal of respect for the Michigan program, and to have a chance to play in one of the most iconic stadiums in the nation presents a tremendous opportunity for us."
The Rams and Wolverines will meet on the gridiron for just the second time, and the first at Michigan Stadium, "The Big House," which currently ranks No. 1 in all of college football with a capacity of 107,601. The programs met in the 1994 Holiday Bowl in San Diego, Calif., won by the 20th-ranked Wolverines over the 10th-ranked Rams, 24-14. That Rams team, quarterbacked by current football staff member Anthoney Hill, finished the season 10-2 and ranked No. 16 in the final AP poll.
The Rams have played three Power 5 programs in each of the past two seasons, including two at Canvas Stadium—Oregon State (Pac-12) in 2017 and Arkansas (SEC) in 2018. Colorado State's last matchups against a Big Ten opponent came against Minnesota in 2016 (road) and 2015 (home), and the Rams have one more scheduled before the 2022 Michigan matchup, at Iowa on Sept. 25, 2021.
Counting games played in a 13-year period beginning in 2015 and scheduled through 2027, the Rams will host 10 Power 5 opponents in Fort Collins in that span after not hosting one opponent from those conferences in the seven seasons from 2008-14. Future home games include Colorado (2020 & '24), Vanderbilt (2021 & '26), Washington State (2023), Texas Tech (2025) and Arizona (2027). CSU hosted Minnesota in 2015, Oregon State in 2017 and Arkansas in 2018.
Colorado State will open the 2019 season on Friday, Aug. 30, against Colorado in the final Rocky Mountain Showdown to be played in Denver at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. The home opener at Canvas Stadium is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7, against Western Illinois. Season ticket renewals will begin on January 16, 2019.
