Junior wideout produces 214 receiving yards in victory
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Warren Jackson didn't just return to the football lineup, he did so with flair.
The Colorado State junior from Mission Hills, Calif., who had missed the prior two games with a shoulder injury, finished Friday's 35-24 win over New Mexico with nine catches for 214 yards, earning him Mountain West offensive player of the week honors. It is his first conference player of the week award and the first for a Ram since receiver Michael Gallup on Oct. 16, 2017.
Jackson was a factor from the onset with five catches for 141 yards in the first half, including an 87-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, the longest play from scrimmage in the conference this season. Jackson closed the scoring with his second touchdown of the evening, a 26-yarder with 5:58 remaining.
It was the 11th time a Ram had 200 or more yards receiving in a game, Jackson the ninth different player on the list. His total sits eighth-best all-time in a single game at CSU. He was also on the PFF National Offensive Team of the Week, one of three receivers nationally.
Jackson leads the team in 2019 with 40 receptions and five scoring catches. He would rank in the top 10 nationally and in the MW for catches per game (8.0, fourth) and yards per game (108.2, 10th) if he qualified based on team games played.
Colorado State (2-5, 1-2 MW) has a bye this week. The Rams return to conference play Oct. 26 with a game at Fresno State.
