FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field and cross country teams will welcome two transfers, Tanner Norman and Gannon Willcutts, to the programs with Norman starting in January and Willcutts next fall.
Norman spent his first two years at Iowa State and will be immediately eligible for this year's indoor and outdoor track seasons. Willcutts will come to Fort Collins as a graduate transfer after completing his undergraduate studies at Princeton.
For Norman it is a return to his home state as he grew up in Colorado Springs and attended The Classical Academy. In his time with the Cyclones, he appeared in one cross country race and no track meets. Going back to his last high school season, Norman won the 3,200-meter race and the 1,600-meter race at the 2017 3A Colorado High School Track and Field Championships. That wasn't all as he took the 3A cross country crowns during his senior and junior campaigns as well. He narrowly swept all three competitions in consecutive seasons, but finished runner-up in the 3200m and 1600m as a junior. Additionally, Norman competed at the 2016 Nike Cross Country Nationals, earning All-American honors with an eighth-place finish.
Willcutts has been in the field in each of the past two NCAA Cross Country Championships for the Tigers and has finished eighth place in consecutive years at the Mid-Atlantic Region meet. Add in two top-10 finishes in the Ivy League title meets to round out his cross country experience with PU. On the track, he placed eighth in the conference meet 5,000-meter and third in the 10,000m, advancing to the NCAA East Preliminary in the latter. The Grozet, Virginia native was a two-time Footlocker cross country national finalist, earning All-America honors in 2015, while captaining Western Albermarle HS to a 3A state championship as a senior.
Also at Western Albermarle, Willcutts' was named 2016 Virginia 3A Male Athlete of the Year, 2016 New Balance Nationals Outdoor All-America, MileState Runner of the Year (VA 2015), two-time Central Virginia Runner of the Year, and a 12-time all-state recipient. He holds the school record in four events (three-mile, 3000m, 3200m, and 5000m).
In personal bests, Norman clocks a 14:59.7 in cross country, and 8:56.21 in the two-mile. Willcutts' collegiate bests are 8:12.6 for 3,000m indoor, 14:15.64 for 5,000m and 29:46.29 in the 10,000m.

On what the signees mean for the future…
"We return the bulk of our team for the 2020-21 seasons. Adding Tanner and Gannon to the roster could give us some very low sticks in cross country and some big point potential in track. Both were two of the best high school runners in the country and Gannon has been one of the top runners in the Ivy League and Mid-Atlantic while at Princeton."
