Defenders Rachel Hall and Sarah Hogenkamp join Rams starting next season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's soccer team and head coach Bill Hempen announced on Tuesday the additions of two defenders to the program's current incoming class.

Rachel Hall joins the Rams from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and San Juan Hills High School, while Sarah Hogenkamp joins the Rams from St. Louis, Mo., and St. Joseph Academy.

That duo joins the Rams' already-established group of six newcomers that were announced in the fall. That group includes midfielder/forward Kaitlyn Abrams (Poulsbo, Wash./Crosspoint Academy), forward Aleyse Evers (Papillion, Neb./Papillion Vista South HS), forward/defender Kendra Gipson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS), midfielder Alina Khan (Houston, Texas/Memorial HS), midfielder Liv Layton (Foristell, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) and midfielder/forward Caroline Lucas (Lewisville, Texas/The Westwood School).

Read below for details on each of Hall and Hogenkamp.

Rachel Hall
Freshman
Defender | 5'7"
San Juan Capistrano, Calif. (San Juan Hills HS)

Rachel Hall joins the Rams out of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and San Juan Hills High School. Hall has started every game her high school has appeared in during her career, and has been voted her team's offensive MVP and defensive MVP. Hall played her club soccer for the Patedores Development Academy.

In addition to soccer, Hall also competed for her high school's surf team, which won multiple state and league titles from 2015-17. Hall also was a member of her school's track & field team, and competed in the sprints, relays and jumps. Outside of competition, Hall was named to the Superintendent's Honor Roll in 2015 and 2016, among other academic recognition.

Colorado State head coach Bill Hempen on Rachel Hall:
"The addition of Rachel gives us a unique student-athlete. She's a Southern California kid that was a state surfing champion and a track & field athlete as well. This is a kid that's done just about everything and you'll be able to tell by the kind of athlete that she is. She's someone that has played forward and outside back for her club, and we're hoping that her development in soccer as well as in the other sports helps her as an outside back going up and down the flank for us."

Sarah Hogenkamp
Freshman
Defender | 5'8"
St. Louis, Mo. (St. Joseph Academy)

Sarah Hogenkamp joins the Rams from St. Louis, Mo., and from St. Joseph Academy. Among the notables on the defender's resume is several years of experience playing for the St. Louis-Scott Gallagher club team.

Hogenkamp will be part of the group that bolsters the depth in the Rams' back line starting in 2019. Among the tools she is expected to bring to the roster are composure and a physical presence in the back line.

Colorado State head coach Bill Hempen on Sarah Hogenkamp:
"Sarah is coming from an unbelievable club in the St. Louis area, a well-organized, well-coached program. I know she'll come in ready and we'll expect Sarah to have a major role in the formation of our defense as soon as this coming fall."
