Lesjak will compete in her final season of eligibility for Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's soccer team and head coach Bill Hempen announced on Thursday the addition of transfer goalkeeper Maddie Lesjak to the roster for the upcoming season.

Lesjak will have one season of eligibility remaining after transferring to Colorado State from Northern Iowa. The Centennial, Colo., native and Grandview High School graduate was named to the Missouri Valley All-Conference Second Team in 2016. That season at UNI, Lesjak appeared in 13 matches, earning seven shutouts with an .806 save percentage.

"Maddie brings a senior presence," Colorado State head coach Bill Hempen said. "Even though she hasn't been part of our program, she carries herself like a legitimate upperclassman. Having her in the mix for training and to share her wisdom with Gabi (McDonald) is part of what makes this a great addition for us. She'll be a great boost to our program."

Lesjak is the ninth addition to the Rams' group of newcomers for the upcoming season. That group includes midfielder/forward Kaitlyn Abrams (Poulsbo, Wash./Crosspoint Academy), forward Aleyse Evers (Papillion, Neb./Papillion Vista South HS), forward/defender Kendra Gipson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS), defender Rachel Hall (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./San Juan Hill HS), defender Sarah Hogenkamp (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy), midfielder Alina Khan (Houston, Texas/Memorial HS), midfielder Liv Layton (Foristell, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) and midfielder/forward Caroline Lucas (Lewisville, Texas/The Westwood School).

Lesjak lettered in soccer in all four years at four varsity letters at Grandview High School, and was named first-team all-state in 2015 as well as all-conference in 2014 and 2015. Lesjak captained her team in 2014 and 2015 and helped the Wolves to the 5A state title her senior year. Lesjak, who spent 2018 away from collegiate soccer, made the Dean's List at Colorado State and is working toward majors in business management and industrial/organizational psychology.
