CSU to play the Bulldogs on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Miners Sunday at 8 a.m.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After four weeks on the road to open the spring slate, the Colorado State tennis team will play its first home matches of the season this weekend at Fort Collins Country Club. The Rams will host Drake on Saturday at 4 p.m. before taking on UTEP Sunday at 8 a.m. All fans are welcome as admission is free and the matches will have live scoring at https://csurams.com/tennislivestats.
The Rams enter the weekend with a 5-3 dual record, having split last weekend in Lincoln, Neb. CSU dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the host Huskers on Saturday and then wrapped up the weekend with a solid 7-0 sweep of North Dakota on Sunday.
"We continue to get better each weekend," head coach Jarod Camerota said. "Last week was another great battle, as we definitely competed with the Huskers, including Emily Luetschwager getting a win over a nationally-ranked opponent. We are excited to be home finally this spring and look forward to a great weekend of tennis, with the best home crowd in Colorado and the Mountain West. This will be a fun start to our home schedule this year!"
Drake enters this weekend's action with a 5-6 mark. The Bulldogs have a pair of similar opponents this year in Grand Canyon and Nebraska. Drake lost to both opponents, losing to GCU, 4-3, and Nebraska, 4-0, while the Rams defeated Grand Canyon, 6-1, and fell NU last Saturday.
UTEP comes in at 3-6 on the season, having played two Mountain West opponents in UNLV and Utah State. The Miners fell to the Rebels, 4-0, and lost a tight one to the Aggies, 4-3. In comparison, CSU lost in a hotly-contested battle at UNLV, 4-3, but has yet to see Utah State this season.
