THE WEEKEND
Colorado State will look to stay atop the Mountain West Conference with its 13-2 mark as the Rams head to Nevada for three games starting Thursday. CSU will play Thursday night at 5 p.m., MT before playing Friday at 2 p.m., MT and Saturday at 1 p.m., MT.

During the 2019 season, the Colorado State softball team will recognize it being #25Strong, referring to 25 years since being reinstated as a sport at Colorado State. The Rams' softball program began in 1976, but did not compete during the 1993 season due to the program being cut at the end of the 1992 season. Colorado State reinstated the softball program and competed in 1994.

OPPONENT SCOUT
Wolf Pack: Nevada dropped its series against Fresno State last week. The Pack dropped the first two, one by run-rule and the other shutout, before taking the final game of the series in eight innings. The series loss was the second of the season and consecutive after San Diego State. Nevada follows Colorado State in doubles, otherwise hovers around the middle of the MW in stat categories.

TOP-25 RANKING
For the first time in over 21 years, the Colorado State softball team is ranked in this week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll entering at No. 25. The Rams were last ranked on March 4, 1998 and were No. 23. That season CSU finished 30-21 overall and 16-13 in the WAC.

LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State continued Mountain West Conference action last weekend hosting UNLV and won its fifth series of the season. The Rams dropped the first game of the series, but responded taking the final two. The loss was the first for CSU at home this season.

NATIONAL STATS
Besides leading the country in doubles per game, Colorado State also ranks highly in a few categories. The Rams rank 9th in scoring with 7.08 runs per game, led by Danni Klein who is No. 13 in runs per game with a 1.14 mark. CSU is also 6th in slugging, led by Tara Shadowen who is smashing a .789 tally, which is No. 35 in the country. Colorado State also sits at No. 12 in batting average with a .331 as Amber Nelson leads the squad with a .421 average.

Colorado State's roster is loaded across the lineup as seven of the nine batters are hitting over .300, while every batters with significant at bats has hit at least one home run. Seven of the nine batters are also slugging over .500.

LEADING THE NATION
After the passing the half-way mark of the conference schedule, Colorado State still leads the nation in doubles per game with a 2.38 average - a .49 difference to second-place Georgia Tech. The Rams have recorded 88 doubles so far this season, which leads the nation and ahead of Georgia Tech (ACC), Oklahoma State (Big 12) and Virginia Tech (ACC).

Colorado State will look to continue its strong season and conference play, as it has recorded nine shutouts, while outscoring its opponents, 262-105. The Rams' 31-6 record is their best record ever and their 13-2 in the MW is the best mark since the league formed in 1999-2000.

The Rams have 10 wins so far this season by the run-rule, including the first-ever victory over Fresno State, 12-4 in six innings. Colorado State recorded seven run-rule wins in all of 2018. CSU's 10 run-rule victories this season is the most since the 1997 season.

Multiple Rams have gotten on base in consecutive games this year, led by Corina Gamboa who had an 18-game streak of getting on base earlier this season. Amber Nelson had her 12-game streak snapped during the second game of the New Mexico series, as did Tara Shadowen who had a 11-game tear. Danni Klein leads the Rams with a new streak which sits at 12 games.

Colorado State has dominated the Mountain West weekly softball awards this season as it has garnished a league-high seven so far this season, including five-consecutive honors at one point. The Rams' seven awards is the most in a season while a part of the Mountain West Conference.

Colorado State set a program record after it won the first two games of the San Jose State series to win its 20th consecutive, which passed the previous mark of 18 set in 1989. The streak was also the second longest-active streak at the time, behind Oklahoma who is currently riding a 28-game streak. The 20 games is also the third longest winning streak at Colorado State, behind women's basketball (28) and volleyball (27). During CSU's streak, it defeated Nebraska, Dayton and Syracuse twice, swept Fresno State, Utah State and recorded its first road sweep since 2016 at New Mexico.

Both Ashley Michelena and Danni Klein hold the longest hitting streak for the Rams with nine games this season. Amber Nelson will carry a current team-best seven-game streak into the Nevada series.

During the Rams' 20-game winning streak, they scored eight-plus runs in 16 of the 20 games, including putting up a season-high 16 runs twice.
