Rams are seeded sixth and take on the 11th-seeded Wolf Pack at 2 p.m. MT
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State is traveling to San Diego, Calif., to play in the 2019 Mountain West Women's Tennis Championships this week. The Rams enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 11 Nevada on Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT. Live scoring is available at https://themw.com/sports/2019/3/22/2019_WTEN_CHAMPIONSHIP.aspx.
"We are really excited for this postseason," head coach Jarod Camerota said. "We played really well last week, especially in a very emotional win at Wyoming. The team has found its stride here and how to play for each other and I am excited to see what we can do this week in San Diego. Nothing is out of reach at this point as we have had some great battles with the best in the Mountain West and can do it again."
The Rams come off a perfect 2-0 week last week, winning at Northern Colorado, 5-2, on Friday before heading to Laramie and defeating Wyoming, 4-2, on Sunday. The win at Wyoming was the first for the Rams in the series since a 4-2 victory in Laramie in 2009. CSU has a 10-9 overall record and is guaranteed at least a .500 winning percentage for the first time since 2005. This is also the highest seed the Rams have had in the tournament since 2005 when it was an eight-team league and the best seed for CSU since the league expanded to 11 teams in 2014.
Nevada comes in with a 10-10 overall record and 1-3 in conference action as the No. 11 seed. The two teams did not meet this season but in recent action, Nevada won at home against San Jose State, 4-3, for its only conference victory of the year.
The winner will take on host and No. 3 seed San Diego State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 25 at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT.
