Colorado State recorded its 11th shutout of the season.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After an hour weather delay, the No. 25 Colorado State softball team scored five runs to earn its 13th run-rule win and 11th shutout of the season with a 9-0 victory in six innings over San Diego State in the series opener Friday afternoon. Amber Nelson hit her 10th home run of the season in the sixth to earn the walk-off. The game was halted in the middle of the fifth inning due to lighting before resuming just over an hour later.

Rams 9, Aztecs 0 | Box Score

Colorado State put up runs in all but the first and fourth innings, scoring on three home runs by three different Rams, a single and a wild pitch. San Diego State recorded four hits in the first two innings, but were held to just one hit the rest of the game.

STAT OF THE GAME
Bridgette Hutton earned the win and her fourth complete-game shutout.

IN THEIR WORDS
Head Coach Jen Fisher…
"We did a great job knocking San Diego State's pitcher (Marissa Moreno) out of the game; she's a tough pitcher. What a great job for Ashley Ruiz to step up and hit a home run after SDSU intentionally walked Tara Shadowen. It's great to see that we have a lot of depth in the lineup and they are coming through. Having Amber Nelson walk it off saves our arms a little bit too. Dealing with the weather delay – that is just adversity. We had to deal with that in the beginning of the season and I like how our team still handles it this late in the season."

NOTES
- Ashley Ruiz finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI in the game
- Seven other Rams tallied a hit
- Amber Nelson (10) and Tara Shadowen (12) hit home run, each recording two RBI
- Bridgette Hutton (14-4) earn the complete-game shutout, allowing just five hits and striking out four batters
- The Rams didn't record a double in the game for just the sixth time this season
- CSU hit three home runs in the win – the fifth time this season with that many

UP NEXT
Colorado State will continue the San Diego State series with game two on Saturday starting at 1 p.m., MT.
