Colorado State tied the game in the fourth before SDSU responded with three runs in the fifth to retake the lead at 5-2. The Rams tried to mount a comeback, scoring a run in the sixth and seventh, but fell short.
Â
STAT OF THE GAME
The Rams' defense had an uncharacteristic game, recording three errors.
Â
IN THEIR WORDS
Head Coach Jen Fisher…
"I don't think we pitched badly at all. SDSU found some holes in our defense and capitalized on our mistakes really well. We just need to tighten up our defense. Those are plays that we usually make and our defense has not let us down hardly at all this year, but today we put ourselves in a little bit of a hole. When we are struggling to find holes offensively, we just need to play a little better defense."
Â
NOTES
- The Rams were held to six hits, led by Ashley Michelena who had two.
- Amber Nelson led CSU with two RBI
- CSU drew four walks, but left six runners on base
- Kaitlyn Cook made her first appearance on defense and recorded her first collegiate hit and RBI with a double in the sixth
- The Rams are now 5-6 in one-run games
Â
UP NEXT
Colorado State will finish its home schedule tomorrow, playing game three in a rubber match with San Diego State at 12 p.m. The Rams will recognized their five seniors for Senior Day prior to the first pitch.
