Stonehouse makes cut for 2019 Ray Guy Award watch list

Junior ranked second in the nation in punting average in 2018
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – For the second consecutive season, Colorado State punter Ryan Stonehouse has made the Ray Guy Award watch list, announced today by the organization.
Stonehouse led the Mountain West and ranked second nationally in average with a 48.3 gross average. That stands as the best single-season mark in school history and raised his career average to 47.3, which also sits as the current school record.
The junior from La Verne, Calif., was on the Ray Guy Award watch list in 2018, and was added to it midyear in 2017. He was named first team All-Mountain West in the preseason by a vote of conference media last week after capping the 2018 season with first-team All-Mountain West honors and being named a second-team All-American by Sporting News. He also earned postseason accolades from Phil Steele (first team All-MW) and All-Colorado by the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter, which additionally named him the special teams player of the year.
Stonehouse has 111 attempts in his two seasons, 49 of them covering 50 yards or better with a career long of 70. He has placed 42 of those kicks inside the opponent's 20.
The award is named for the sport's best punter, and the NFL's only pure punter to be elected to its Hall of Fame. It has been issued annually since 2000 to the best collegiate punter. The winner will be announced on Dec. 11, 2019 and presented as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet show on ESPNU.
