FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The preseason honors for Colorado State junior punter Ryan Stonehouse are starting to pile up, as Sporting News placed him on its second-team All-America list, released Wednesday.
Earlier this summer, Athlon had Stonehouse as preseason fourth-team. Athlon and Phil Steele have also given him first-team All-Mountain West distinction.
Stonehouse led the Mountain West and ranked second nationally with an average of 48.3 at the close of 2018. That earned him second-team All-American honors from Sporting News, as well as the first-team all-conference spot.
His 2018 average is the best single-season mark in program history, and his two-year average of 47.3 also ranks him first at Colorado State. Of his 111 career attempts, 49 have been hit 50 yards or longer, with a career best of 70. He's placed 42 kicks inside the opponent's 20.
