Postgame Notes: Rocky Mountain Showdown

TEAM NOTES
- Captains: S Jamal Hicks, DL Toby McBride, FB Adam Prentice, WR Warren Jackson
- Coin Toss/Result: Colorado won the coin toss (CSU had choice). Buffs elect to receive.
- Attendance: Announced attendance was 66,997. CSU sold 25,559 tickets for the game. That total included 8,757 to students.
- Series: Following the loss, CSU is 22-67-2 (.241) against Colorado.
- Denver Farewell: The game marked the final Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver, where CSU posted a 6-13 record. Next year the game will be played at Canvas Stadium (Saturday, Sept. 5).
- True starter: Nouredin Nouili became the first true freshman offensive lineman to start a game since Blaine Saipaia did in 1996. Saipaia started the fourth game of the season that year against UNLV. He was one of five true freshmen projected to start the season opener for their team this year, the only one in the Group of 5. Nouili was a German exchange student last year in Perth, Neb., playing for Norris High School.
- More Truth: Dante Wright, Kyle Helbig, Christian Hunter, Ty McCullouch and Brandon Crossley also made appearances on offense, marking six true freshmen to play for the Rams.
- First Time Starters: On defense, Jalen Bates, Logan Stewart, Andre Neal and Tron Folsom made their first starts as Rams. On offense, Dante Wright, Scott Brooks and T.J. Storment joined Nouili.
- First Time Rams: In addition to Folsom, Bates, Stewart, Neal, Nouili, Storment, Hunter, Crossley, McCullouch, Helbig and Wright, Jaylen Thomas, Maxwell Poduska and Marshaun Cameron all made their first appearances in a CSU uniform.
- Points: The 83 points were the most scored in a single game in the series.
PLAYER NOTES
QB Collin Hill
- - The junior started a season opener for the first time, his eighth career start. With a career-best 374 passing yards in the contest, he has now surpassed the total in four of his starts.
- - He finished 31 of 47 passing, throwing three touchdowns with two interceptions.
- - This was the fifth time in his career (16 games played) he has thrown multiple TD passes in a game.
WR Dante Wright
- - The true freshman not only started in his first game, but his first career catch was good for a 39-yard touchdown reception.
- - He added his second touchdown of the game on a 41-yard run in the second quarter.
- - Wright became the first true freshman to score twice in a game for the Rams since Warren Jackson did against Alabama in 2017, and the first to score in a season opener since Joe Hansley in 2012.

WR Warren Jackson
- - Hauled in his seventh career TD pass on an 8-yard pass in the second quarter. All of his career TDs have come away from Canvas Stadium.
- - He led the team with eight catches for 87 yards.
K Maxwell Poduska
- - The Rocky Mountain High School product attempted and made his first field goal, a 42-yarder in the third quarter.
- - His first action came making three PAT's prior.
S Jamal Hicks
- - Led the team with 13 tackles, 11 of them solo stops.
