Both Teams Back in Action Next Week
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The week two rankings in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll has the Colorado State men's cross country team staying in the No. 14 spot, released Tuesday.
With the light schedule across the country, there was only a slight shuffling of teams ahead of the Rams and none that changed more than one spot. Another poll inside the top-25 makes it 26-straight weeks for CSU men – a feat shared with seven other programs in the country. Furthermore, four of those seven programs reside in the Mountain Region. The streak for the Rams started with the week four poll of the 2016 season.
The Mountain Region continues to be the front runner among the nine regions, putting five teams in the top-20. The Great Lakes Region also has five representatives in the top-20, however its last two teams rank lower than the Mountain Region's fifth team, Wyoming at No. 17. Northern Arizona, ranked nationally No. 1, leads the pack followed by No. 2 BYU, No. 4 Colorado, No. 14 Colorado State, and Wyoming in the top-5.
On the women's side, the Rams also stood pat in their regional rankings at No. 6. BYU holds the top spot in front of Colorado, Air Force, Northern Arizona, Southern Utah, and CSU. The women jumped up three spots in the last poll after their first-place finish at the Wyoming Invite to start the season.
The Rams are back in action on Oct. 4 in the Joe Piane Invitational, in South Bend, Ind., giving ample time to work and improve.
