The USTFCCCA Coaches’ Poll has the Ram Men at No. 20

NEW ORLEANS – Still no action yet, but the anticipation mounts for the Colorado State men's cross country team as they have been ranked No. 20 in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll ahead of the revised 2020 season turned early 2021 season.

In the season's first poll last week, the Rams opened at the No. 23 spot with 97 votes. Despite not racing, CSU moved up three spots and garnered five additional votes while various conference meets occurred across the country.

"It is always nice to be nationally recognized by the Coaches Association," cross country head coach Art Siemers said. "The team is chomping at the bit to race.  We return seven of our top nine from last year's Mountain West runner-up team finish and added two extremely talented and hard-working transfers in Tanner Norman (Iowa State) and Gannon Willcutts (Princeton).  The team finished our last training cycle with a great three-mile time trial and they are laser focused and ready to compete in a first-ever winter cross country season!"

Regionally, the Rams are the fifth team in the always competitive Mountain Region but are the top Mountain West institution. Representing the Mountain Region includes Northern Arizona (No. 1), BYU (No. 2), Colorado (No. 9), Southern Utah (No. 16), the Rams in the 20th spot and then Air Force (No. 25). The six schools within the top-30 is the most among all the regions.

The next poll comes out February 23, 2021. The NCAA DI Championships are tentatively set for March 15, 2021 in Stillwater, Okla.
