Five players land on first team

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Six Colorado State football players were recognized for All-Mountain West honors by Pro Football Focus, the group announced on Tuesday. Among that list are five first-team selections.

Wide receiver Dante Wright, tight end Trey McBride, edge rusher Scott Patchan, flex defender Marshaun Cameron and punter Ryan Stonehouse all were named to the first team based on PFF's grading system, while interior defensive lineman Manny Jones made the third team.

McBride's selection comes as no surprise as a day earlier he was named an honorable mention All-American by PFF. According to PFF, the junior from Fort Morgan, Colo., was the best at his position in the conference, and by a wide margin. His 90.8 receiving grade led all conference tight ends by more than 20 points, and his 2.60 yards per route run were ninth best in the FBS. He led CSU in receiving with 22 catches for 330 yards and four touchdowns, his 24 points leading the squad in scoring. He was tied for seventh in the conference in receptions per game (5.5) and sixth in receiving yards per game (82.5). He opened the season with a career-best 130-yard performance against Fresno State on eight catches.

Wright, a sophomore, was considered by PFF as the most productive wideout in the MW with his 3.54 yards per route run. He finished with 20 catches for 315 yards, averaging 15.8 yards per catch and 105 yards per game. He posted 100-yard games in two of the three games he played this season, establishing career highs of 10 receptions for 146 yards in the win over Wyoming. He ranked second in the MW in receptions per game, third in yards per game.

Patchan, a transfer from Miami, led the conference in both sacks per game (1.38) and tackles for loss per game (1.88), numbers which ranked him third and sixth nationally, respectively. He had 5.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss overall, adding 22 total tackles and three quarterback hurries. By PFF's metrics, Patchan won on 24 percent of his pass rushes, securing a pressure on 19 percent – both figures leading Mountain West players by 3.5 percentage points.

A senior, Cameron made more plays than most corners in the MW, according to PFF with just 13 stops in four games, still ranking him third despite the Rams playing just four games, the fewest in the conference. His 76.9 coverage grade ranked third overall. He had 29 tackles overall, three for a loss, including a sack. He had CSU's lone interception this year, returning it 30 yards for a score against Wyoming.

Stonehouse, who has already announced he will return next season, is the NCAA's career leader in punting average at 46.8 yards over 186 career attempts. He averaged 45.3 yards this season, placing eight of his 26 attempts inside the 20 yard line, with nine punts of 50 yards or better.
