Rams’ Comeback Falls Short Against Lancers

Colorado State had its fastest runners on base with one out, but couldn’t move them across home plate.
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – The Colorado State softball team was in position to complete a comeback Friday morning against California Baptist at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, but came up short.

Colorado State started the game with a handful of great at bats which included the first three batters working to full counts. The Rams scored first after getting runners on the corners and executing the double steal to score their first run. CSU added to the scoring two batters later after Ashley Ruiz singled to right field to score Danielle Serna. CBU cut into CSU's lead in the bottom of the frame with a RPI single and took the lead in the fourth scoring three runs on three hits. Colorado State got one run back in the sixth after Ruiz knocked her first double of the season down the right-field line to score Corina Gamboa. CSU was in a position for a comeback in the seventh, putting runners in scoring position with two outs, but could not get them to tough home.

Colorado State will continue action at the PV College Challenge tomorrow morning facing Utah at 9 a.m., MT.
