Senior wideout continues run for CSU wideouts

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State's talent at wide receiver has been on an extended run, one recognized by the Biletnikoff Award committee in the past. It started with Rashard Higgins being a finalist in 2014, with Michael Gallup a finalist in 2017. Preston Williams was a semifinalist in 2018.

This year, Warren Jackson joins the club as the senior was placed on the award's preseason watch list for the first time on Thursday.

Jackson, out of Mission Hills, Calif., is coming off a tremendous junior season where he recorded 77 receptions for 1,119 yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games played. He ranked fourth nationally in yards per game (111.9) and sixth in catches per game (7.7) in earning first-team All-Mountain West honors. Jackson's nine-catch, 214-yard performance against New Mexico earned him conference offensive player of the week honors as the yardage total ranks eighth all-time in the program's records. Among those numbers were an 87-yard touchdown reception, the longest in the Mountain West last season and second longest in school history. He earlier had a 12-catch performance against Toledo, the tied for fourth best at CSU in a single game.

With 124 catches, 1,789 yards and 14 scores, the senior is on the cusp of cracking the top 10 of the program list in each category.

Jackson is one of 55 players on the Biletnikoff preseason watch list, five playing in the Mountain West.

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation presents the Biletnikoff Award annually to the best collegiate receiver, regardless of position. Players may be added to the list during the season based on performance, with the list cut down to semifinalists and finalists in the final months of the season. The winner of the award is announced during the Home Depot College Football Awards show at the end of the regular season.

The trophy will be presented to the winner at this year's banquet on March 6, 2021 at the University Center Club at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
