Chaston Named Mountain West Cross Country Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Starting the season strong, Thomas Chaston was named Mountain West's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance in the season's opener this past Saturday, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Chaston, a redshirt sophomore, crossed at 18:10.2 in the 6,000-meter Colorado State-Wyoming Dual meet at the North Cheyenne Community Park. The Colorado Springs native was the first uniformed runner to finish by a margin of 5.4 seconds in front of teammate Tanner Norman.

Eight Rams finished in the top-10 to comfortably give the No. 21-ranked Rams the win over Wyoming with a score of 18 points to the Cowboys' 45.

The award marks the second in Chaston's career as he earned the accolade on October 15, 2019 after winning the UCCS Open in a photo finish to the 8K.
