Jackson is the latest in a long line of former Colorado State receivers to move on to the NFL.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Former Colorado State wide receiver Warren Jackson will be the next in a long line of former Colorado State players to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine as he has been invited to the 2021 iteration of the league's top scouting event.
Â
The combine has served as the premiere destination in the pre-draft process for all upcoming NFL players, and though the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has put the event's in-person configuration into a state of uncertainty, an invitation is acknowledgement enough of a player's standing in the eyes of NFL general managers, coaches, and scouts.
Â
"It is an honor to receive an invitation to the NFL Combine," Jackson said. "I have been training relentlessly to prepare for the next level, and I am excited to continue that process as well as represent my family, my team, and Colorado State every step of the way."
Â
Jackson declared for the NFL draft in August shortly after the Mountain West initially postponed the 2020 season and was already well into training for his professional career when the league ultimately decided to resume with a conference-only schedule in October. He concluded his Colorado State career after playing in 33 games where he tallied 1,789 yards on 124 receptions and 14 touchdowns while increasing his production each season.
Â
Jackson was named the 2020 preseason Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year after a 2019 junior campaign where he was named a first-team All-Mountain West selection. The Mission Hills, Calif., native led the team with 77 catches for 1,119 yards and eight touchdowns over 10 games. His 77 catches rank fifth-best for a single season in program history while his 1,119 yards rank eighth. Against Toledo, Jackson tallied the third-most receptions in a single game with 12 and his 214 yards against New Mexico rank eighth for a single-game performance at Colorado State.
Â
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 2021 combine will be utilized primarily to obtain comprehensive medical information on all invited participants, and workouts, interviews, and other steps in the process will be handled virtually or during on-campus pro days.
Â
Former Rams who have participated in the combine in recent years include: Olabisi Johnson (2019), Michael Gallup (2018), Kevin Davis (2017), Hayden Hunt (2017), Â DeAndre Elliott (2016), Rashard Higgins (2016), Aaron Davis (2015), Dee Hart (2015), Garrett Grayson (2015), Jared Roberts (2015), Ty Sambrailo (2015), Crockett Gillmore (2014), and Weston Richburg (2014).
