Rams’ Bats Quiet on Sunday

Colorado State suffered a pair of losses at the Texas A&M Invitational Sunday against Central Arkansas and Texas A&M
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Colorado State softball team was back in action Sunday at the Texas A&M Invitational, dropping both games against Central Arkansas and Texas A&M. The Rams offense was quiet in both games, as it did not score a run in either contest.
GAME ONE | Central Arkansas (L, 3-0) | Box Score
Both team's bats were quiet through the majority of the game, as the first three-and-a-half innings there was just two hits. Central Arkansas registered its second hit and first runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run two-hit frame, which was also aided by a pair of Colorado State errors. CSU looked to follow, but failed to find an open spot in the field, as it put just one runner on base the rest of the game.
NOTES:
- Julia Cabral made her second career start in the circle, suffering a loss with five hits and three earned runs, while striking out five batters
- The Rams drew three walks in addition to their pair of hits, but couldn't get a runner past second base
GAME TWO | Texas A&M (L, 2-0) | Box Score
In the second game of the day, it was a rematch with the Aggies after a victory on Saturday night. Texas A&M score the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning, while its defense was solid, holding the Rams to just three hits in the game. Payton Allen recorded CSU's first hit of the game in the top of the third with a double to left, but failed to get across home plate. Colorado State looked to make a comeback in the final frame, recorded a pair of singles but again, couldn't find a timely hit to push runners across home.
NOTES:
- Jessica Jarecki was given the nod for the rematch with the Aggies, making her second start of the season. The senior suffered the loss after allowing seven hits and two runs scored, while adding to her strikeout count with four Ks.
- Payton Allen registered her first double of the season in the third inning
- The Rams put a runner 60 feet away from home in the fourth and seventh frames, but couldn't reach home
