Rams Drop Friday Morning Game

Colorado State dropped the second game against the Redhawks Friday morning at the Wildcat Invitational.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Colorado State softball dropped its second game against Seattle U on Friday morning, 5-3. The Rams will have the rest of the day off before playing a pair of games against BYU Saturday afternoon.

Seattle U started the game with a pair of runs in the first frame on a pair of hits. The Rams narrowed the lead in the home half, after Danielle Serna knocked a RBI double. CSU took the lead in the following frame after Ashley York hit her second homer of the season to right center for a two-run shot to give the Rams a 4-3 lead. The Redhawks responded in the fourth with a two-run homer themselves to retake a 4-3 lead. Seattle U added an insurance run in the seventh on a walk to head to the final outs leading 5-3. Colorado State put a runner on base in the final frame, but could not convert any.

- Julia Cabral made the start and was tagged with the loss, throwing 6 1/3 inning allowing three earned runs and striking out five batters
- The Rams tallied four hits with Corina Gamboa, Danielle Serna, Ashley York and Payton Allen each reaching base on a hit
- York blasted her second homer of the season in the fourth inning – a two-run shot
- Serna also grabbed an RBI off her double in the first frame
- Taylor Gilmore enter the game in the seventh inning, finishing the last two outs, striking out one of two batters faced
