Four Rams Earn All-Mountain West Honors

Colorado State has had four or more recognized for the last 10 seasons.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado State volleyball team had four student-athletes earn All-Mountain West honors the league announced Monday. Alexa Roumeliotis, Breana Runnels and Ciera Zimmerman were named All-Mountain West, while Sasha Colombo was tabbed honorable mention. UNLV and Colorado State led the MW with four honorees each.

Breana Runnels earned her fourth-consecutive honor as the senior finished second in the Mountain West in kills with a 4.05 average, which also ranks No. 58 in the country. Runnels also led the Rams with her 166 kills and finished hitting .224 for a 4.55 points per set. Runnels has inked her name in the Colorado State record book as she holds a career 1,404 kills – the most in modern scoring which she set in 2019 – and is currently ninth all-time in program history. Her four All-MW accolades joins a group of four-time honorees from CSU, with former players like, Katie Oleksak, Kirstie Hillyer, Megan Plourde to name a few.

Alexa Roumeliotis and Ciera Zimmerman earned their first All-MW honors, while Sasha Colombo also picked up honorable mention for the first time. Roumeliotis was a cornerstone for the Rams' defense in the backrow, leading Colorado State and the Mountain West with 4.96 digs per set. The senior broke the digs record for a four-set match with 36 against UNLV this season. She also added five services aces in the match, tying the modern scoring record.

Zimmerman earned her first All-MW postseason honor, leading the Rams' offense and Mountain West with 9.70 assists per set. The redshirt sophomore had five matches where she dished out 40-or-more assists, including a season-high 47 in a four-match against Boise State. The setter also added something to the point-scoring site, flooring 46 kills on the season.

Colombo garnished her first postseason All-MW honor after being named All-Mountain West Honorable Mention. The junior finished No. 8 in the conference and led Colorado State in hitting percentage with her .348 clip – No. 82 in the nation. The middle attacker recorded four matches with double-digit kills and in each of those hit .300 or better, including two matches where she reached a .500+ mark. In total, Colombo finished hitting .500+ in four matches and .400+ in six contests.
