Patchan Adds Nagurski Trophy Watch List to Preseason Accolades

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The preseason accolades continue to roll in for Colorado State defensive end Scott Patchan who on Tuesday added the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List to his sheet prior to the start of the 2021 season.
Patchan has previously been named to the Preseason All-Mountain West team as well as the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award. The Nagurski Trophy is given annually to college football's top defensive player.
In his first season with the Rams, Patchan ranked among the nation's leaders in sacks and tackles for loss per game. The Tampa, Fla., native led the Rams with 7.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in four games played in 2020 and recorded at least one sack in every game played, with his 1.38 per-game average ranking him third in the country. His 1.88 tackles for loss per game placed him sixth nationally.

The transfer from Miami earned All-Mountain West recognition after finishing the season with 22 tackles, 10 of which were solo stops. He also led the team with three quarterback hurries. With Patchan leading the push, the Rams led the nation with 10.5 tackles for loss per game and ranked fourth nationally with 4.0 sacks per game.

The Nagurski Award Watch List included 90 players from 61 schools including five individuals from Mountain West schools. The award will be presented on the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 9, 2021.
