Rams Tabbed Third in Preseason Poll

Colorado State was voted to finish third in the Mountain West by the league’s coaches and libero Alexa Roumeliotis was named to the preseason team.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State was picked to finish third in the Mountain West Conference, voted on by the league's coaches. The Rams are coming off a shortened season that they finished 9-6 and was played last spring due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is the third time CSU has been tabbed to finish third in the MW.
 
Alexa Roumeliotis was named to the preseason team for the second year. The libero finished last season leading the Mountain West with a 4.96 average and ranked No. 50 in the country. She also set a program record with 36 digs in a four-set match against UNLV, who went on to claim the conference championship.
 
UNLV was selected finish first in the Mountain West with 98 votes and eight first-place votes, followed by Boise State with 90 votes and two first-place nods. Colorado State followed with 80 votes and the last first-place tally. Wyoming and Fresno State rounded out the top-five.
 
The Rams have won 16 of the 22 regular-season Mountain West title and hold a 307-46 (.870) league record. CSU has never been slotted to finish worse than 3rd in the Mountain West preseason poll and have received at least one first-place vote every season.

Colorado State will open its fall 2021 season at home against South Dakota on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m., with its annual White Out. The Rams will face 10 non-conference opponent, including six at home before starting their 18 Mountain West matches. The conference also re-introduced it volleyball tournament, set for Nov. 24-26 in Las Vegas.
