Rams Travel to Arizona for Lopes Up Classic

Colorado State will play four different teams in five games over the weekend in Phoenix, Feb. 25-27.
THIS WEEK
Colorado State will continue non-conference action on the road this weekend, traveling to Phoenix for the Lopes Up Classic, hosted by Grand Canyon Feb. 25-27. The Rams will open the weekend on Friday with games against Colgate at 2:30 p.m., and the host, Grand Canyon at 7:30 p.m., MT on ESPN+. CSU will face Incarnate Word for a Saturday morning game at 9:30 a.m., MT and will play Pacific at 2:30 p.m. MT for its second game. Colorado State will finish out the Lopes Up Classic with a second game against Incarnate Word on Sunday at 12:00 p.m., MT.

LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State played in the Tracy Beard Classic last weekend and faced a trio of teams. The Rams finished the weekend with a 1-4 mark, but against suffered a pair of one-run losses, including an eight-inning battle with host North Texas. The Rams finished the weekend on a high note, scoring eight runs on 17 hits against Montana to record their second win of the season.

OPPONENT SCOUT
Colgate
The Raiders will head to Phoenix with a 6-4 record as they posted a 2-3 mark at the Pirate Clash host by Easy Carolina last week. Colgate earned wins against Wagner and East Carolina over the weekend. Colorado State has faced Colgate just once prior to the weekend, back in 2002 with a 5-1 win in Fort Collins.

Grand Canyon
The Lopes continue action at home, hosting the Lopes Up Classic this weekend with an 8-3 record. GCU posted a 2-2 mark last weekend in the Purple Classic it hosted, earning a pair of wins against Idaho State. Colorado State will face GCU for the third time as the series is split at a game apiece. The Lopes joined the WAC and Division I starting in 2014.

Incarnate Word
The Cardinals are off to a 3-8 start to the season after hosting the Cardinal Invitational last week and suffering five losses. Colorado State last played Incarnate Word in 2018, earning two wins in Austin, Texas.

Pacific
The Tigers are 2-6 after playing at CSU Bakersfield for a three-game series last week, dropping the series 1-2. Colorado State is 4-7 overall against Pacific, but are 3-1 at neutral fields and on a four game-winning streak dating back to 2010. The two last met in 2019 at Stanford with the Rams earning a 10-0 win in five innings.

Colorado State will head home for its planned home opener next weekend, hosting the Colorado Classic March 4-6. The Rams will welcome Saint Mary's (CA), Wisconsin and Utah Valley.
