Rams Look to Host Colorado State Classic this Weekend

Colorado State will host No. 5/7 Washington and Northern Colorado.

THIS WEEK
This Rams will stay in Fort Collins this weekend, hosting their second and final non-conference weekend with the Colorado State Classic. Colorado State will welcome perennial Top-25 Washington and NoCo rival Northern Colorado. CSU is schedule to play a game Friday afternoon against the Bears, but look for updates due to forecasted weather conditions.
 
The bulk of the weekend's games are scheduled to be played on Saturday starting at 10 a.m., MT with Washington and Northern Colorado. Colorado State will face Northern Colorado at 12:30 p.m., MT before finishing the day against the Huskies at 3:00 p.m., MT. The weekend will conclude with two games on Sunday, one that features Colorado State and Northern Colorado at 12 p.m., MT.

LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State opened Ram Field last weekend, hosting the Colorado Classic. The Rams were able to get Friday games in, including their home opener against Wisconsin before the weather forced the rest of the weekend to be cancelled. The Rams also played Utah Valley on Friday, suffering their second loss of the day.
 
OPPONENT SCOUT
Washington
The Huskies, ranked No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches and No. 7 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Polls this week, come to Colorado with a 16-5 overall mark. UW started the season 9-0 before suffering a 2-0 loss to then-No. 15 Clemson. Since, the Huskies are 7-4 dropping contests to then. No. 16 Missouri and then-No. 18 Northwestern in the same day at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Washington has faced eight schools ranked in the Top-25, coming away with a 5-3 mark. The Rams are 0-5 against Washington, last playing in 2013 in Fort Collins.
 
Northern Colorado
The Bears are 6-12 after starting the season 1-9 and have since have had some success. Northern Colorado co-hosted last week's Colorado Classic, posting a 2-2 mark with a pair of wins against Utah Valley, including its home opener. The Bears and Rams have met the most outside of conference foes, as CSU holds a 42-38 overall record in the series, including a 15-game winning streak dating back to the 2014 season.
 
UP NEXT
Colorado State will begin Mountain West action next week, traveling to San Diego State for a three-game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday.
