LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State comes into the weekend after dropping a three-game series at Fresno State with each game decided by three or fewer runs. The Rams held leads in the first two contests before dropping the series. The final game of the weekend, CSU was tied in the fourth inning before surrendering four runs down the stretch. The Rams sit at 14-23 overall and 5-10 in the Mountain West with nine games remaining.
Â
HOME SWEET HOME
The Rams come into the weekend with a 5-1 record at Ram Field when playing Mountain West teams. Colorado State has also scored five-or-more runs in each of the home victories. CSU's lone MW home loss was in game two against New Mexico and were limited to three hits and two runs in the 4-2 loss.
Â
JUST SHORT
Colorado State has been in some close games as it has a 4-15 record in games decided by two or fewer runs. In the non-conference slate, the Rams were on the wrong side nine times. Since the start of Mountain West play, CSU has been in six games which came down to just needing a timely hit. In last weekend's series against the Bulldogs, the Rams came up just short in two of the three games decided by two runs or less. All three games against San Jose State were decided by two or fewer runs with the Rams coming up with a series sweep, but the lone loss in the series against New Mexico and a pair of games at Utah State had CSU just short.
Â
TAKING THREE
Ashley York has hit a team- and Mountain West-best six triples this season, including one in the New Mexico series. She also recorded a triple-bagger against San Diego State, Northern Colorado, Utah Valley, San Jose State, and Colgate. Her six triples rank No. 6 in the country. As a team the Rams have totaled 12 triples – two by Hailey Smith and Peyton Allen and one from Maya Matsubara and Ashley Michelena – while allowing just three.
Â
PLAYING CLEAN
Since the start of Mountain West play, the Rams' defense has committed just nine errors, leading them to a .977 fielding percentage, which is second in the Mountain West. Colorado State is the only conference team which has limited their errors to single digits, while everyone else has at least 10 errors in conference play.
Â
SWIPING BASES
The Rams are third in the conference for stolen bases as they have swiped 15 in 16 attempts. York leads Colorado State with five stolen bases in five attempts, which places her in third in the Mountain West. Allen and Makenna McVay are tied for ninth in the conference with three stolen bases in three tries.
Â
OPPONENT SCOUT
The Wolf Pack head to Fort Collins carrying a 5-13 conference record and sit at 15-31 overall. Nevada comes off a weekend series against New Mexico where it won two-of-three games.
