Colorado State was held to just three hits in the loss, having one through the first six innings.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State's offense was quiet on Saturday for game two against New Mexico, as the Rams suffered a 4-2 loss. CSU was held to just three hits and just one through the first six innings from a solo homer by Peyton Allen. Colorado State looked to get the offense going in the final frame after scoring a run but couldn't complete the comeback.

New Mexico got on the board first, scoring a pair of runs in the opening frame after recording four hits and leaving the bases loaded. Both teams were quiet from the third inning on, sending no more than four batters to the plate until the seventh. The Lobos extended their lead after two hits led to two runs. Colorado State was needing a few runs heading into its final outs trailing 4-1, but with a RBI double from Danielle Serna gave the offense a chance. Unfortunately, the Rams went down in order as the comeback fell short.

Colorado State's three hits were all recorded by different players, with Allen's homer in the second before a single by Hailey Smith and Serna's double in the seventh. Jetta Nannen started in the circle and was given the loss after allowing the two runs and four hits in the opening frame. Serna came in on relief early and finish the game with two earned runs and three hits. She also struck out six batters.
