The team will visit three different countries while playing volleyball during the 11-day trip
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After a year postponement, the Colorado State volleyball team will head overseas for its European Tour, May 17-29. The Rams are scheduled to visit three countries and six cities during the tour, while also playing six matches against five different club teams.
Â
"In all of my career, the one experience that the players look back on as the best thing they've ever done has been these foreign trips," head coach Tom Hilbert said. "The cultural experience and the volleyball part of it is great too, but it's really about discovering new things as a team. And you can't replicate that."
Â
The Rams leave from Denver on May 17 and will have 11 days around their teammates, playing volleyball matches, site seeing, cultural experiences and relaxing. The team will start in Istanbul, Turkey before visiting Slovenia and flying back to the States from Malpensa, Italy on May 29.
Â
"It's really a positive team-building experience in a number of ways," Hilbert said. "First, they are doing something new, and it can be uncomfortable. It's different and they will have to adjust to that. Second, we aren't following our normal plan. We might be walking around site seeing all day and then grab something to eat and then play a match. We also don't get video of teams in advance. So, we'll just be playing the match and having to adjust on the fly. Lastly, it's a change that we'll be together for 11 days and every day is a new experience. That is a great team-bonding element in itself."
Â
Colorado State will have a lot of photos, videos and written pieces planned for the tour, coming from the 13 players themselves. Follow the team on social media to follow the European Tour. Twitter x Facebook x Instagram
