Camper Named to Groza Award Preseason Watch List

Senior was a semifinalist for honor last season
FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – Coming off a record-setting season, Colorado State senior placekicker Cayden Camper has been named to the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award watch list, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced today.

The Groza Award is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate placekicker, with the preseason watch list consisting of 30 players. It is named after the NFL Hall of Fame kicker, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Semifinalists will be named on Nov. 1, with three finalists announced on Nov. 22. The winner of the award will be announced during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 8. Now in it's 31st year, the Groza Award, presented by the Orange Bowl, will recognize the three finalists in Palm Beach County, closing with the gala awards banquet on Dec. 5.

Camper was a 2021 Groza Award semifinalist after he set the Colorado State record with 25 field goals made on the season. Included in the total was a school- and Mountain West-record six-for-six game in a win over San Jose State, including his season-best effort from 53 yards. He had one game where he made four field goals and two others where he made five.

Overall, Camper finished 25-of-32 on his attempts, connecting on all 27 of his extra-point tries. Â His 102 total points is tied for the seventh-best single-season mark in program history. His 32 career field goals rank him ninth all-time, and his 71.1 percent field-goal conversion ranks seventh.
